zhǐ fèi yì xīn (zhi fei yi xin)

Meaning: 本欲止水沸腾，却反而在锅下加柴。比喻所做与本来愿望相反。Context: 明·李贽《为黄安二上人书》之三：“对高洁人谈高洁，已为止沸益薪，况高洁十倍哉！”
